The image shows a picturesque rural country lane in spring. The narrow, winding road is bordered by tall, lush greenery and dense hedges adorned with delicate white flowers. The vibrant foliage creates a natural corridor, leading the eye towards rolling hills in the background under a clear blue sky.

History, archaeology and pre-history – Delve into the past of the area, from Neolithic times that shaped the ancient landscape to the present day.

Lunch

A light lunch will be a choice of sandwiches, rolls, soup, one-dish hot food (soup, chilli, jacket potato etc) plus tea, coffee and cold drinks. The type of lunch specified in the event details (i.e. is it a hot or cold lunch). Most dietary requirements are catered for.

The image shows a delicious Ploughman's Lunch on a brown plate. The meal includes slices of crusty bread, wedges of creamy cheese, a slice of savory pie, and a fresh mixed salad with leafy greens, tomatoes, and cucumber. A bunch of red grapes adds a touch of sweetness to the plate. The background features a wooden table and other items, hinting at a cozy, rustic dining setting.

Afternoon Walk

Time to get out and really explore the countryside, get some fresh air, and enjoy the knowledge gained in the mornings expert talk.

Walks vary in length and ability, from 4 to 8 miles long, and from relatively flat terrain to some more challenging ascents and descents.

Some of the walks will include “Meet the Farmer” or someone who works in the countryside. They will talk about what is around, and what is happening at that time of year. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The length of the walk and the terrain covered will be specified for each individual event. We aim to make you confident in your level of enjoyment.

Afternoon Tea, Evening meal or Drinks

All walks will aim to conclude at a place of refreshment of some description.

Evening meals and alcoholic drinks will tend not to be included, although tea, coffee and cold drinks will be provided. You may choose to purchase an evening meal at the location or sample the local drinks on offer.

The type of venue, what is available at the venue, and an estimate of how long will be available at this final destination will be specified for each individual event.

The image shows the charming exterior of a traditional country pub with a thatched roof. The pub features a whitewashed facade with black timber framing and a cozy outdoor seating area with white plastic chairs and tables. Potted plants and umbrellas add to the welcoming ambiance. A woman is seated at one of the tables under a blue umbrella, enjoying the sunny weather. The pub's signboard is visible, listing the menu items. The setting evokes a quintessentially English countryside experience.
