Fields of ripe barley

Getting out into the fresh air and seeing the fields and trees is good for you, and we are here to assist. Our mission is to help you build the confidence to get outside and off the beaten track.

Great Britain has possibly the greatest amount of landscapes in the smallest area. From the flat Fenlands of the East, to the golden coves of the West, the rolling Downs of the South to the Mountains and Moors of the North – and so much between. There are places that are deservedly popular, and easy to access, but they can be very busy and far from relaxing. Yet so much of this great Island is beautiful, and only experienced by a few locals.

See somewhere new

Roaming the Paths offer a wide range of Tours, Walks and Talks in Wiltshire and West Berkshire. Easily accessible by train, leave the car and your cares in the towns and cities and begin your outdoor adventure.

The Vale of Pewsey, Marlborough Downs and Salisbury plain are outstanding and beautiful. Genuine quiet and peace far from the madding crowds as most only see Stonehenge, Castle Coombe or Bath in Somerset. Only an hour from London it’s easy to get here, and we make your visit stress free and enjoyable whilst you gain the confidence to get about in rural Britain.

How we do it

All our events have at least two leader and back-up, so you can have the confidence you are in safe hand. Days out are curated for different experiences. They are not about covering distance or seeing as many things as possible. They are about enjoying the countryside, understanding the environment, slowing down and observing, eating the local produce, absorbing the natural world.

By partnering with individuals, groups and organisations we can offer a wide range of countryside-based activities. We make the countryside as accessible and enjoyable for all as possible, regardless of experience or ability.

About our Tours, Walks and Talks

Each event is a combination of different elements relating to the countryside. Some may seem to be the same event, but no one event is ever the same – because the countryside is ever changing. Not one day is the same.

Each even will contain different elements. If you don’t see one that you like, and have an idea – contact us – we like suggestions.

Ancient landscapes and Avebury

A range of longer walks of 10 – 15 miles exploring the ancient landscapes of the Salisbury Plain, the North Wessex Downs, the Ridgeway, Wansdyke, and the ancient wonders of the Avebury Complex. Some tours will include informative discussions from experts on assorted subjects found in the talking tours.

Summer Strolls and Winter Warmers

An opportunity to unashamedly relax in the countryside and enjoy the bounty of the land. A gentle stroll, or a longer walk to a country pub where you can spend a quantity of time savouring the fruits of the countryside. Jugs of Pimms outside in the summer or a warming feast by the log fire in winter. Enjoy the quaint and beautiful locations whilst sampling the finest food and drink. A range of options to suit all budgets from simple country fayre to high-quality dining.
